Good food, but there's a wait

I was served by and got the opportunity to speak with the owner. He was friendly and very cordial. The food was top rate! I explained to the owner " Miguel " that I was born in Alturas and had often come in after school for an ice cream. The last time I was at Harold's Frosty I was eight years old, 45 years ago! He then handed me an Ice cream cone and said " This is to help you remember " I sat there eating that cone and the memories of a little boy washed over me. I am grateful for that moment. So please, stop in and say hi to Miguel for me. I don't know when I'll be back. Baron.

Excellent burger and french fries!

Best milkshake I’ve had. Awesome flavor selection, nice and thick. Solid burger for a fair price. Great ambiance. Had to leave town early and couldn’t hit this place again but I’m eagerly awaiting my return. Well worth the visit if you’re in the area

It was a very cute little place food was excellent.

I ordered a double cheeseburger and it was ok but the fries were totally burnt and they still served them to me.

This place has a lot of history to it actually and was one of my favorite places to go in high school everyday for lunch. They have great milkshakes and awesome theme on the inside. Great place for kids. You can choose a ton of different toppings for your icecream

Very polite cashier! Milkshakes to die for. Cheeseburger was okay. But I paid almost $18 for a small milkshake, double cheeseburger, and a basket of tator tots...

I really liked the super burrito. Just the right spicy. My mom served burgers here in 1967 and she would approve.

I give this place 4 stars because their food quality alone. The workers are nice, and the service can take a bit of time, but I definitely think its made up for with how good the food is. Usually food wait time is around 10 to 15 minutes. Also they have some really good milkshakes.

Great service. Milkshakes are awesome. The burgers for me are definitely not the best is the west, I would say they are average. My meal for a burger with bacon, no cheese and a large drink came to $12.

Amazing food! Will definitely go back. Guy cooking did awesome, the girl checking us out messed up taking order, wasnt pleasant to speak with and seemed "short" attitude wise. I got the feeling she really didn't want to be at work. The guy cooking took pride in how his kitchen area looked and pride in his cooking. Was charged for sauces for my fries, even though it wasnt made clear we were being charged. Food was great and loved the theme around the lobby. 3 stars due to how the girl was... otherwise was definitely a 5 star meal!

The food is regularly fresh and delightful, staff members hands out great customer service. I loved how neat it is and mood. I highly recommend this spot.

If your in Alturas you have to stop here. We do pretty much every time we come through. It's one of my favorite places. Trust me I'm a fat guy.

the corn dog was cold. nobody there was wearing masks, although I guess you could say the same about all of modoc. they weren't following any of the governor's current restaurant rules. it stank in there. good service though.

The BEST Ice Cream and Milkshakes ever. We make it a point to stop at Harold's whenever we pass through Alturas. NOT fast food... Only GOOD food.

Great food and Amazing shakes. Prices are on the high side compared to the food quality but it is one of my family favorite places to eat. They have food for kids also.

This is a great stop if you are passing through Alturas. The food is fresh and very good. I especially appreciated a sparkling clean restroom and how this stuff made me a special coffee that was delicious.

Classic American shake shack. The burgers are great. Very fresh meat, handmade patties and crisp lettuce, tomatoes and onions. The shake was very tasty. They have so many choices when it comes to treats it was hard to choose. Will make this a regular stop on our drive.

Great location, right on US 395 in Alturas, CA. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant, and the variety of food choices. Prices are small and portions are big. Service was quick and friendly. I'll definitely stop in next time I'm driving through.

Great place to stop and have lunch. There fresh hamburgers are pretty tasty. The ice creams and shakes are really good.

I admire this restaurant! They serve awesome dishes, their menu is decent, The cook in that spot is a real authority in the kitchen, I love very much trying all their food. The dishes are consistently of high qualtity, the attitude towards the guests is helpful. I go often to this place and I was never discontended. I recommend it to all my friends.

Chocolate peanut butter shake was perfect with bacon jalapeno burger! While jalapenos were not on the menu, I asked and Harold delivered! Thank you!

I regularly arrive buying some food in this spot. I enjoy the quick customer service and well made dishes. Highly recommended.

Anytime you are heading to Reno from the north, a pit stop at Harold's Frosty for a milkshake is a must!

Great hole in the wall! Food was fantastic! Fries were fresh, they tasted like they used a potato and not the frozen kind. Burger was really good too and the shake was real ice cream, creamy cold chocolatey goodness! I would come in every day if I lived in this tiny town!

Very yummy, friendly and not as slow as some others have commented, but I'm sure it just depends on the day.

Food was fresh and great tasting. Sadly, way too overpriced to make this a regular stop. Would have given a higher rating if more properly priced, $38 plus for 2 basic burger n fries is too much anywhere.

Friendly staff. Good place to get ice cream or classic burger and fries meal. I'd rather stop at a place like this on a road trip than any corporate fast food restaurant.
